Overview
Two-step verification adds a second layer of security to your account by requiring another method of verification beyond your initial password.
This article covers enabling two-step verification on your computer. You can also enable and log in with two-step verification on your Android device or iOS device.
Considerations
- If you have a smartphone, When I Work recommends using an Authenticator App to configure two-step verification. When I Work recommends Authy, LastPass, or Google Authenticator.
- If you do not have a smartphone, When I Work recommends SMS text verification to set up two-step verification.
Enable two-step verification using an authenticator app
Hover over your name, then select Profile & Settings.
- Click Enable Two-Step Verification.
- Click Use an Authenticator App. (If you haven’t already, install an authenticator app.)
- Click Next.
- Use the authenticator app to scan the QR code shown, then click Next.
- Enter the authentication code shown in the authenticator app, then click Next.
- Copy the recovery codes shown into a text document or email that can be stored in a safe place. Recovery codes are a fail-safe for account recovery.
- Click Done.
Enable two-step verification using SMS text messaging
Hover over your name, then select Profile & Settings.
- Click Enable Two-Step Verification.
- Click Use SMS (Text Message).
- Enter your mobile phone number, then click Next.
- Enter the authentication code that was sent to you via text, then click Next.
- Copy the recovery codes shown into a text document or email that can be stored in a safe place. Recovery codes are a fail-safe for account recovery.
- Click Done.
